The Al Rayyan football team has been preparing for their upcoming match against Al Gharafa, as they attended a training session yesterday. This highly anticipated clash is set to take place at the iconic Al Bayt Stadium in Doha as part of the Ooredoo Stars League (OSL). Both teams are title contenders and will be looking to secure a win in the third round of the league.
Last season, Al Rayyan narrowly defeated Al Gharafa to finish as runners-up behind champions Al Sadd. Al Gharafa settled for third place in the standings. Both teams will be eager to secure points in this match, especially after suffering losses in the previous round. Al Rayyan suffered a 4-0 defeat against Al Duhail, while Al Gharafa slipped to 11th place after a 1-0 loss to Al Ahli.
Al Rayyan’s coach, Poya Asbaghi, emphasized the importance of avoiding mistakes in their upcoming match against Al Gharafa. He acknowledged that it will be a tough game and emphasized the need for hard work to make a strong comeback. Similarly, Al Gharafa will be looking to bounce back with a strong performance and secure their first victory of the season.
The Ooredoo Stars League’s third round will kick off with title holders Al Sadd facing Al Arabi at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. Al Arabi will pose a tough challenge for Al Sadd as they seek their first win of the season. Al Sadd will be looking to build on their 5-1 victory over Qatar SC after a shock loss to Al Shamal. Unfortunately, Al Sadd will be without Algerian defender Abdessamed Bounacer for three months due to an ankle surgery.
In another match tomorrow, Al Duhail will aim to claim their third consecutive win as they face Umm Salal at the Khalifa International Stadium. The day will also see Al Shamal taking on Qatar SC at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. Following the Al Gharafa vs. Al Rayyan match on Friday, in-form Al Ahli will meet Al Khor at the Al Thumama Stadium, while Al Shahania and A Wakrah will face off at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
