Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed traffic improvements at four key locations within the Al Safa 1 Schools Complex, just a week before the re-opening of schools on August 26. The enhancements aim to improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by 20%. These improvements include the widening of entry and exit points, as well as the introduction of traffic-calming measures such as traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.

Traffic works were carried out at four different locations within the Al Safa 1 Schools Complex. These include the addition of a 255-metre lane to the service road for vehicles travelling from the junction of Sheikh Zayed Road with Al Hadiqa Road towards the roundabout leading to Street 13. Additional parallel parking slots were created near Al Safa School and Al Ittihad School, aimed at easing congestion during peak hours and streamlining traffic flow during student pick-up and drop-off times.

The exit leading to Al Wasl Street from Street 19 was widened by adding a 330-metre-long lane and reducing the number of left-turn lanes to one. Improvements were made to the traffic signal at the intersection with Al Wasl Street, and 18 parking slots were added opposite Jumeirah College. An additional U-turn exit was also created on Al Wasl Street, along with the installation of a traffic signal and a pedestrian crossing.

According to Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, these enhancements are expected to benefit road users, including service providers from the business community, students, and approximately 60,000 residents of the neighbourhood. The RTA remains dedicated to enhancing the efficiency of Dubai’s road network, aligning with the city’s development goals and the needs of road users. These efforts are aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and elevating safety standards across Dubai’s roads.

In preparation for the re-opening of schools on August 26, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed traffic improvements at four key locations within the Al Safa 1 Schools Complex. The enhancements, which include widening entry and exit points and introducing traffic-calming measures, are expected to improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by 20%. The improvements aim to benefit road users, including service providers, students, and residents of the neighbourhood, by promoting smooth traffic flow and enhancing safety standards.

The traffic works at the Al Safa 1 Schools Complex involved the addition of lanes, creation of parking slots, and installation of traffic signals and pedestrian crossings at various locations. These improvements, such as the widening of exits and entrances and the creation of parallel parking slots, aim to ease congestion during peak hours and streamline traffic flow during student drop-off and pick-up times. The RTA’s efforts in enhancing the road network in Dubai align with the city’s development goals and the needs of road users, ensuring efficient traffic flow and improved safety standards across the emirate.
