Al Jazeera Digital has received four esteemed Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) of America for its exceptional coverage of Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza. The awards honour the Al Jazeera English website for its comprehensive reporting, including Breaking News Coverage of the conflict and recognition for its digital documentary film “One Day in Gaza – Close Up.” This film provides a unique perspective on the hardships faced by Palestinians in the strip, offering a glimpse into their daily lives amidst the constant danger.
The awards also acknowledge AJ+ English for its news series “It’s Bisan from Gaza,” which provides a firsthand account of the devastation and human toll resulting from Israeli bombardments in Gaza. Soraya Salam, Manager of the Al Jazeera English website, commended the dedicated work of the teams in delivering accurate coverage of the conflict. She highlighted the bravery of reporters on the ground and paid tribute to the journalists who have lost their lives while reporting on the war.
Moeed Ahmed, Manager of AJ+ English, emphasized the importance of professional journalism in the face of threats and attempts to silence reporters. He praised the resilience and dedication of the journalists in telling stories that shed light on the human cost of war. The awards ceremony, scheduled for October 14, 2024 in New York, will celebrate the achievements of Al Jazeera Digital and other distinguished media outlets, including ABC, CNN, and NBC.
