A two-day conference titled “Entrepreneurship, Employment and Localization Policies” organized by the Ministry of Labour has kicked off in the city of Salalah today. This event aims to discuss the role of entrepreneurship in sustainable economic diversification and the development of non-oil sectors in the Sultanate of Oman. The conference coincides with a business forum themed “Together We Work, Together We Innovate and Prosper”, highlighting collaboration and innovation in the business sector. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Salim Mustahail Al Ma’ashani, Adviser at the Diwan of Royal Court, showcasing the significance of the event.

One of the key topics of discussion at the conference is the use of artificial intelligence as a tool for planning and sustainable development. This highlights the importance of incorporating technology into economic strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity. The first day of the conference included two discussion panels, one focusing on “The Importance of Localizing Jobs to Serve the National Economy” and the second showcasing success models resulting from job localization in the private sector. These discussions aim to provide insights and strategies for promoting job localization to support the national economy.

In addition to the panel discussions, the conference includes three working papers addressing different aspects of employment and localization policies. The first paper discusses the role of freelancing in generating employment opportunities, emphasizing the importance of flexible work arrangements in the modern economy. The second paper reviews the “National Employment Policy”, outlining key strategies and initiatives aimed at promoting employment within the country. The third paper outlines the Omanization experience at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), showcasing successful localization initiatives within a specific industry.

Overall, the conference serves as a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, best practices, and strategies for promoting entrepreneurship, employment, and localization policies in Oman. By bringing together government officials, industry experts, and business leaders, the event aims to foster collaboration and innovation in driving economic diversification and sustainable development. The use of artificial intelligence and technological advancements further highlight the importance of embracing innovation in shaping the future economy of Oman. With a focus on localization and job creation, the conference aims to support national economic growth and address key challenges facing the labor market.

As the conference continues, participants will have the opportunity to engage in further discussions, networking, and knowledge-sharing sessions. By exploring successful models and best practices in entrepreneurship and job localization, attendees can gain valuable insights into effective strategies for promoting economic growth and creating employment opportunities. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, the conference aims to shape the future of Oman’s economy and drive progress in the non-oil sectors. By emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship and localization policies, the event plays a crucial role in advancing economic diversification and supporting the national economy.
