Shifting homes in Dubai can be a daunting task, but with proper planning and organization, the process can be made easier. One essential aspect to consider is your utility connections, specifically Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) services. Unlike the traditional method of canceling and creating new accounts, Dewa offers a convenient ‘Move To’ service that allows you to transfer your existing account to your new residence without any hassle. Additionally, there is no need to pay an additional security deposit unless you are moving from a flat to a villa.

To utilize the Move To service, you can apply through the Dewa website, DEWA Smart App, Customer Care Centre, real estate management companies, or Dubai Land Department authorized offices. The application process requires you to provide details such as your contract account number, move-out date, new premises number, and valid Ejari number. Once the application is submitted, you will receive a notification number through SMS or email to track your request. Dewa will then connect your electricity and water supply to the new premises while disconnecting the services at your old residence.

Before applying for the Move To service, it is essential to settle any outstanding dues for your current premises and pay the security deposit if required. The fees for disconnecting from the old premises range from Dh100 for small meters to Dh300 for large meters, while connecting to the new premises incurs similar charges. The security deposit amount varies for flats and villas, with Dh2,000 for flats and Dh4,000 for villas. The process timeline includes 24 working hours to move out and 15 working hours to move in after the necessary payments have been made.

By using the Move To service provided by Dewa, residents in Dubai can seamlessly transfer their utility connections when shifting homes. The convenience of this service eliminates the need to cancel and create new accounts, saving time and effort during the moving process. Whether you are moving within the same building or to a different location, the Move To service simplifies the transition and ensures a smooth transfer of electricity and water services without any disruptions.

As part of the application process, individuals must provide specific details such as their current contract account number, move-out date, new premises number, and Ejari number for the new residence. These requirements are essential to ensure a successful transfer of services and avoid any delays or complications during the relocation process. By following the guidelines provided by Dewa and submitting the necessary documentation, residents can enjoy a hassle-free move and have their utility services seamlessly transferred to their new home.
