Malaysia appreciates statement by leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and US regarding Gaza ceasefire.

Malaysia welcomed the Joint Statement issued by the leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States on August 8, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire deal in Gaza Strip and the release of prisoners and detainees. The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its support for the ongoing peace negotiations mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, hoping that the discussions on August 15 will lead to positive results and prevent further escalation of the conflict. Malaysia urged all parties to remain focused, committed, and respect the peace process.

The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Malaysia’s advocacy for peace, stability, and adherence to international law. They called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the cessation of killings and atrocities, the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and the acceptance of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations. The leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States also affirmed their commitment to bringing immediate relief to the people of Gaza and resolving the issues surrounding hostages and detainees through a framework agreement that is currently on the table.

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and US President Joe Biden expressed their willingness to present a final bridging proposal, if necessary, to resolve any remaining implementation issues. They called for urgent discussions to resume on August 15 in Doha or Cairo to close all remaining gaps and begin implementing the deal without further delay. Malaysia stressed the importance of achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Gaza and called on all parties involved to work towards this goal.

The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need for all parties to remain committed to the peace process and respect the ongoing negotiations mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. Malaysia has always stood for peace and stability, advocating for the cessation of violence and the promotion of humanitarian aid to those in need. The Malaysian government reiterated its support for the efforts of the mediators in reaching a ceasefire deal and securing the release of prisoners and detainees.

Malaysia also called for the acceptance of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations, highlighting the importance of international solidarity in resolving the conflict in Gaza. The Joint Statement issued by the leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States underscored the urgency of reaching a ceasefire agreement and releasing hostages and detainees.
