The Automated Rapid Transit (ART) system in Abu Dhabi has gained popularity among commuters and has recently extended its operation hours on weekdays. Launched as a pilot project last year, the eco-friendly ARTs connect Reem Mall and Marina Mall, providing a convenient and comfortable mode of transportation. Initially, the service was only available on weekends, but now it operates from Monday to Friday with the last service extended until 8 pm.

Commuters have praised the air-conditioned ARTs for providing a relief from the harsh summer weather and the rush during peak hours. The convenience of avoiding crowded buses and efficiently moving through busy routes like Reem Island has made the ART system a preferred choice for many residents and workers in Abu Dhabi. The extension of ART service on weekdays has been welcomed by individuals like Paul Alfredo, who finds it a more comfortable option compared to public buses.

The state-of-the-art ART system can accommodate up to 200 passengers and covers a route of 27km between Reem Mall and Marina Mall. Along the way, it stops at popular destinations such as Marina Square, Galleria Al Maryah Island, Khalidiya Park, and various hospitals and hotels. Expats like Yassin Aref, who rely on the ART for their daily commute, appreciate the extension of service on working days, although the 60-minute frequency of the ARTs can sometimes pose a waiting challenge for passengers.

The growing popularity of the ART system in Abu Dhabi reflects the city’s commitment to sustainable and innovative transportation solutions. The tram-like ARTs offer a smart mobility solution that leverages advanced technologies to enhance the commuting experience for residents and visitors. By expanding the operating hours and days of the ARTs, the city aims to provide a more reliable and convenient transportation option for commuters, especially during peak hours and in busy areas like Reem Island.

With its focus on comfort, efficiency, and sustainability, the ART system has become a preferred choice for many commuters in Abu Dhabi. The extended operation hours on weekdays cater to the needs of a diverse range of passengers, offering a reliable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional modes of transportation. As the ART system continues to evolve and expand, it is likely to play a significant role in shaping the future of public transportation in Abu Dhabi and setting a new standard for urban mobility solutions in the region.
