In the first half of 2024, the Mahas Industrial City in the Wilayat of Khasab, Governorate of Musandam, saw a significant increase in investment, reaching over OMR41.9 million. This marked a 2.05 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year. The growth in investment was driven by the localisation of projects in various sectors such as electrical industries, warehouses, and logistics, as well as engineering and technical services. Additionally, over 90% of the project to construct roads and infrastructure pillars in the city has been completed at a cost of almost OMR5 million.
Mubarak Salim Al Ghailani, the Acting Director General of Mahas Industrial City, announced that the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) has initiated a new project to establish 10 ready-made model factories on a 500 square meter area. These factories will offer a range of services including administrative offices, loading and unloading areas, parking lots, and green spaces. Al Ghailani emphasized that Madayn is committed to supporting entrepreneurs, developing small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and promoting national industries and Omani products. As part of this effort, various business works and projects have been awarded to contracting, construction, and supply companies in Musandam Governorate, with a total value exceeding OMR1.3 million.
Furthermore, Mahas Industrial City has taken the lead in supporting SMEs by awarding 11 tenders to businesses in the governorate. These tenders cover a range of services including technical services, electrical works, consulting, contracting, supply, shipping, and general maintenance. The focus on supporting SMEs is part of the city’s broader strategy to promote local businesses and boost economic growth in the region. Al Ghailani highlighted that these initiatives reflect the city’s commitment to fostering a thriving business environment and supporting the development of local industries.
The construction of roads and infrastructure in Mahas Industrial City is a key priority for the development of the area and attracting further investment. The completion of over 90% of the road construction project highlights the city’s dedication to enhancing its infrastructure and creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive. The new project to establish ready-made model factories will further support the growth of the industrial sector in Khasab and provide businesses with modern facilities to operate and expand their operations.
In addition to infrastructure projects, Mahas Industrial City is focused on promoting entrepreneurship and supporting the growth of SMEs within the region. By awarding tenders to local businesses, the city is creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to develop their skills, gain valuable experience, and grow their businesses. This investment in local businesses is essential for driving economic development in Musandam Governorate and ensuring the sustainability of the industrial sector in Khasab. Overall, the increase in investment and the focus on supporting SMEs reflect a positive outlook for the industrial development of Mahas Industrial City and bode well for the future growth of the region.
