Qatar Tourism, in collaboration with the Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), recently organized a workshop for amusement park and entertainment facility managers in Doha. The primary goal of the workshop was to raise awareness about childhood diabetes and create a safe environment for children with this condition. Led by Katie Nahas, Programs Manager at QDA, the workshop focused on developing sustainable solutions to address the challenges faced by children with diabetes in amusement parks.
During the workshop, Nahas provided a comprehensive presentation on the rights of children with diabetes and the standards set by QDA for recreational facilities. The event concluded with a Q&A session where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and receive detailed answers from QDA representatives. The workshop emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of children with diabetes in public places, including amusement parks.
Qatar Tourism has been actively involved in enhancing its Corporate Social Responsibility programs through partnerships with both private and public sector entities. Mohamed Al Ansari, Director of Tourism Licensing at Qatar Tourism, highlighted the significance of the partnership with QDA in addressing the high prevalence of diabetes among children in Qatar. The collaboration aims to provide children and their families with safety and security while enjoying recreational activities.
Dr. Abdallah Al Hamaq of QDA emphasized the importance of integrating children with diabetes into society without sacrificing their safety or facing discrimination. The association is working closely with Qatar Tourism to ensure that children with diabetes have access to necessary diabetes management supplies and accommodations while participating in recreational activities. Measures such as facilitating entry to entertainment facilities with QDA identification cards and allowing the use of diabetes care supplies within the facilities will be implemented to ensure the well-being of children with diabetes.
The collaboration between Qatar Tourism and QDA underscores a commitment to creating an inclusive environment where children with diabetes can fully engage with and benefit from the diverse entertainment options available in Qatar. By prioritizing the safety and well-being of children with diabetes, both organizations are working towards enhancing the accessibility and inclusivity of recreational activities for all children in the country. Through strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts, Qatar Tourism aims to drive sustainable development and community enrichment while balancing economic advancement with social and environmental responsibility.
