Highlights from the Paris Olympics 2024 Closing Ceremony

The Paris Olympics 2024 recently came to an end with a dazzling closing ceremony at Stade de France in Paris. The ceremony marked the transition of the Olympic Games from Paris to Los Angeles, which will host the next edition in 2028. There were several performances by popular artists and musicians, including Tom Cruise, H.E.R., and Zaho de Sagazan, who entertained the crowd with their incredible acts. The event was a celebration of sportsmanship and unity as athletes from around the world bid farewell to Paris and welcomed the upcoming games in Los Angeles.

The ceremony kicked off with a stunning performance of the American national anthem by singer H.E.R., followed by a gravity-defying rappelling stunt by Tom Cruise. French singer-songwriter Zaho de Sagazan mesmerized the audience with a rendition of Edith Piaf’s classic song Sous le Ciel de Paris. The stadium was transformed into a mystical setting with the arrival of The Golden Voyager, inspired by French history and the Spirit of the Bastille. The Greek flag was raised in accordance with tradition, and performances by Phoenix, Kavinsky, and Alain Roche added to the magical ambiance of the event.

Grammy Award-winning R&B singer H.E.R. set the stage for the LA2028 Olympics with a soulful rendition of the American National Anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner. Olympic champion Simone Biles made a special appearance on stage to accept the Olympic flag, signifying the handover to Los Angeles. The evening saw a spectacular piano performance by Alain Roche, who played The Hymn to Apollo while suspended in the air. The event concluded with a performance by Billie Eilish, who sang her hit song Birds of a Feather, and a captivating performance by Yseult, who sang My Way, leaving the audience in awe.

The medal tally for the Paris Olympics 2024 saw the USA topping the list with a total of 126 medals, including 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze medals. China secured the second position with 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze medals, followed by Japan with 20 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze medals. India finished at the 71st spot with one silver and five bronze medals. The closing ceremony was a grand finale to a successful event that showcased the incredible talent, sportsmanship, and spirit of the athletes who competed in the games.

The LA2028 handover ceremony included a procession through the streets of Los Angeles, with athletes carrying the Olympic Flag before a performance by Grammy Award-winning band Red Hot Chilli Peppers on the beach. The event featured an electrifying performance by American rapper Snoop Dogg, who sang his popular tracks Drop It Like It’s Hot and The Next Episode. The closing ceremony came to an end with a spine-chilling performance by Yseult, who delivered a captivating rendition of My Way. The event was a fitting conclusion to the Paris Olympics 2024, setting the stage for the upcoming games in Los Angeles in 2028.
