The Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) program at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Doha, Qatar has received the prestigious Gold Level ELSO Award for Excellence in Life Support from the Extracorporeal Life Support Organisation. This award recognizes ECLS programs globally that excel in providing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation to patients through processes, procedures, and systems that promote excellence and exceptional care. ELSO aims to honor programs that achieve high performance, innovation, and quality in three key areas: promoting the mission, activities, and vision of ELSO; providing patient care of the highest quality based on evidence; and supporting training, education, collaboration, and communication in line with ELSO guidelines.

Dr. Ibrahim Fawzy, ECMO lead and Medical Director at Aisha bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital, expressed his gratitude for receiving the award, emphasizing the dedication, skills, and efforts of the entire ECLS team at HMC. The program strives to deliver care at the highest international standards and has demonstrated exceptional achievement in maintaining quality processes, procedures, and systems. This is the second time HMC has received the Gold Level ELSO Award, following their initial accreditation in 2018. Dr. Fawzy credited the team at HMC for their remarkable achievement and acknowledged the support of Dr. Abdulsalam Saif and Mr. Emad Mustafa for their contributions to reaching this milestone.
