Bahrain praised for its modern human rights system

The Kingdom of Bahrain has been commended for its modern and comprehensive approach to human rights and combating human trafficking by His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee. Dr. Al Zayani attributed these advancements to the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. In recognition of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, with the theme “Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking,” Bahrain has integrated pioneering initiatives in child rights and human trafficking prevention, resulting in a robust framework for safeguarding children and upholding human dignity. The country has implemented advanced policies and legislative measures such as the Child Justice Law, the Protection from Abuse Law No. 4 of 2021, the Child Law No. 37 of 2012, and Law No. 1 of 2008 on combating human trafficking, in alignment with the Government Plan and the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026).

Bahrain’s efforts in combating human trafficking have been recognized internationally, with the country maintaining its esteemed international status within the top category for combating human trafficking for the seventh consecutive year as per the US Department of State report. This recognition has filled the Minister of Foreign Affairs with pride as he highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to upholding human rights and protecting vulnerable groups, especially children, from exploitation and abuse. The government’s proactive approach towards addressing human trafficking and ensuring the well-being of children has been a priority in Bahrain, with a focus on implementing comprehensive strategies and measures to prevent and combat this global issue. The collaboration between various sectors and agencies within the country has strengthened Bahrain’s capacity to address the challenges posed by human trafficking and protect the rights of individuals, particularly children, who are most at risk.
