Doha, the capital city of Qatar, has once again been recognized as one of the safest cities in Asia and the world with an extremely low crime rate. According to the latest Crime Index 2024 Mid-Year report by Numbeo, Doha ranks third out of 311 global cities for having a crime index of just 16.1. This places Doha among the cities with the lowest crime rates globally, with cities in South Africa topping the list for the highest crime rates. The UAE’s Abu Dhabi and Ajman also scored low on the crime index, slightly edging out Doha.

The Numbeo index measures perceived crime rates based on factors such as theft, violence, and vandalism. Qatar’s crime rate has been consistently low, with worries about physical attacks and being mugged or robbed scoring very low. Qatar was crowned the most peaceful country in the Middle East and North Africa in 2023, with a crime rate of 0.00 per 100,000 people in 2022. The country’s strong law enforcement and commitment to safety and security have contributed to its low crime rate.

The report noted a downward trend in the total number of reported crimes from 2021 to 2024, indicating a 17% decrease in crime over these years. Additionally, serious road accidents resulting in deaths have fallen by more than 32% over the past two years in Qatar, according to data from the National Planning Council. Efforts by the Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate of Traffic to raise awareness and ensure compliance with traffic rules have led to a decrease in road accidents and fatalities.

Qatar’s low crime rate is a testament to its effective law enforcement, strong legal framework, and proactive community engagement. The country’s commitment to ensuring safety and security for its residents and visitors is evident in the steady decline in various types of crimes over the years. Qatar continues to develop and implement innovative crime prevention strategies, which are likely to maintain its status as one of the safest countries in the world.

In conclusion, Doha and Qatar have once again been recognized for their low crime rates, with Doha ranking third globally in the latest Crime Index 2024 Mid-Year report by Numbeo. The UAE’s Abu Dhabi and Ajman also scored low on the crime index, highlighting the overall safety of the region. Qatar’s effective law enforcement, strong legal framework, and proactive community engagement have contributed to its consistently low crime rates. Efforts to raise awareness and ensure compliance with traffic rules have also led to a decrease in road accidents and fatalities, further enhancing the country’s safety and security. As Qatar continues to develop and implement innovative crime prevention strategies, it is likely to maintain its status as one of the safest countries in the world.
