Recognising the hard work and dedication of delivery riders in Abu Dhabi during the summer, Howden Guardian Insurance Brokers has offered them free shopping gift cards as a token of appreciation. The month-long campaign aimed to show gratitude towards the unsung heroes who deliver goods despite the scorching heat and humidity. Sarah George, HR and admin manager, mentioned that this gesture was part of the group’s ‘Giving Month’ initiative, highlighting the company’s commitment to giving back to society.

Established in London in 1994, Howden Group’s broking operations in the UAE began in 2008 with offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. The group holds annual initiatives as part of its environmental and social responsibility, with the Abu Dhabi office choosing to recognize the delivery riders as the company turned 30 years old. Sarah noted that the initiative was led by managing director Racha Moukayed and aimed to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the delivery riders in ensuring timely deliveries despite the challenging conditions.

During the campaign, 30 delivery riders were surprised with Dh100 shopping gift cards as a gesture of gratitude. Sarah mentioned that the smiles on the faces of the delivery riders receiving the gift were heartwarming and emphasized the importance of recognizing their efforts. In addition to the gift cards, the company also conducted a clothing and shoe donation drive among its employees, with the donated items being given to the Emirates Red Crescent as a way of supporting the community and those in need.

The Abu Dhabi office of Howden Guardian Insurance Brokers has a history of engaging in various initiatives to give back to society, including beach cleaning and mangrove planting in the past. These initiatives, along with the recent campaign to recognize and reward delivery riders, reflect the company’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility. By showing appreciation for the hard work of these essential workers, the company aims to make a positive impact on the lives of those who contribute to the community’s well-being.
