Bahrain played a crucial role in the “Mediators Retreat on the Situation in Sudan” held in Djibouti City on July 25th and 26th. Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al Tarifi, Head of the Arab and African Affairs Sector, represented Bahrain at the retreat. He highlighted the outcomes of the Bahrain Summit held in May, where Arab nations emphasised the need for solidarity with Sudan and rejected any external interference in its internal affairs. Bahrain stressed the importance of utilising all diplomatic channels to encourage Sudanese parties to reach a comprehensive and sustainable peaceful solution.

The retreat brought together 32 countries and regional and international organisations, including the League of Arab States, the African Union, the United Nations, the European Union, and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). The goal was to discuss international initiatives and efforts aimed at achieving peace in Sudan. Ambassador Al Tarifi reiterated Bahrain’s stance on the importance of standing by the Sudanese people and providing necessary support to humanitarian organizations operating in Sudan. He also emphasized the need for supporting economic and infrastructure initiatives to rebuild Sudan and achieve lasting stability.

Bahrain’s participation in the retreat showcased its commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region. The Kingdom’s representation at the event demonstrated its support for international efforts to resolve the crisis in Sudan. Ambassador Al Tarifi’s address reiterated Bahrain’s position on the importance of upholding Sudan’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
