The Royal Army of Oman (RAO)’s Music Band recently conducted a training programme in Edinburgh as part of its participation in an international music competition being held in Scotland, the United Kingdom. The competition will continue until 19 August 2024, with knockouts taking place in five Scottish cities where music bands from around the world will compete. The training programme focuses on showcasing musical instrument skills, presenting different melodies, military discipline, and infantry shows in preparation for the upcoming competitions. Col. Ahmed Salim Al Shukairi, Director of RAO Band, expressed his excitement for the event, stating that it is a great opportunity to demonstrate the high standards of Omani military music, military discipline, and the professionalism of the musicians.

The training programme also serves as a platform for the RAO band to meet international teams, exchange experiences, and gain new skills. Col. Al Shukairi emphasized the band’s goal of achieving advanced placements in the various competitions, highlighting the new classification set by the organizing body. The international music competition in Scotland serves as a unique opportunity for the RAO Band to represent Oman on an international platform and showcase their talent to a global audience. The event allows the band to demonstrate Omani military music, discipline, and professionalism, while also highlighting the country’s cultural diversity and artistic heritage. By participating in such prestigious competitions, the RAO Band not only promotes Oman’s musical heritage but also fosters international goodwill and collaboration through the universal language of music. As ambassadors of their country, the band members aim to make Oman proud and leave a lasting impact on audiences worldwide.
