Numerous development projects being implemented in Dhofar Governorate

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in Dhofar Governorate is currently undergoing road construction projects with state-of-the-art international technical standards. These projects are part of the Ministry’s efforts to keep up with the economic development in the Sultanate. The various wilayats in the governorate are witnessing the construction of several vital projects, some of which are currently under construction while others are in the design and award stages.

Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shamakhi, the Undersecretary for Transport at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, highlighted some of the ongoing projects in Dhofar Governorate. One of the projects involves the design and change of the course of the Arjout – Sarfait Road in the Wilayat of Dhalkut, with a total cost of OMR 11 million. This project has reached a completion percentage of 79% and is expected to be finished by the end of 2024. Another project, the Harweeb – Al Mazyouna-Mitan Road, with a cost of OMR 30 million, has a completion percentage of 15.2% on schedule. Additionally, the road network works in the wilayat of Maqshan have surpassed a completion percentage of 15%, with an estimated cost of OMR 13 million.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology aims to improve the infrastructure in Dhofar Governorate through these road construction projects. These projects play a crucial role in enhancing connectivity, facilitating transportation, and promoting economic development in the region. By adhering to international technical standards, the ministry ensures that the roads are built to the highest quality, ensuring safety and longevity for users.
