Ahmed Durrani, an 18-year-old swimmer from Dubai, has qualified for the Paris Olympics in the 200-metre freestyle event. His journey from being a restless kid to a potential Olympic athlete started when his father, Aasif Durani, introduced him to swimming at a young age. Ahmed’s talent for swimming quickly became evident as he began breaking records and winning medals in school competitions. With unwavering support from his family, Ahmed has trained tirelessly to reach the pinnacle of his young career.

Ahmed’s training routine is extremely demanding, requiring him to wake up early for morning training sessions before attending school and then returning for evening training. Despite the rigorous schedule, Ahmed has maintained a balance between swimming and academics. His dedication and hard work have paid off, as he recently qualified for the Paris Olympics after competing in the national championships in Pakistan.

Ahmed’s goal for the Paris Olympics is to break the national record in the 200-metre freestyle event and showcase Pakistan’s ability to compete on the international stage. Inspired by fellow Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem, a javelin thrower who has achieved success despite limited resources in Pakistan, Ahmed is determined to make his country proud. Training in Dubai has provided Ahmed with access to world-class facilities, giving him the ideal chance to excel in his sport and represent Pakistan on a global platform.

The support Ahmed has received from his family, schools, and the UAE federations has been instrumental in his journey to the Olympics. Dubai’s Hamdan Sports Complex, where Ahmed trains, is considered one of the best facilities in the world for elite swimmers. Ahmed credits Dubai’s exceptional facilities and the opportunities provided by the UAE federations for his success in swimming. As he prepares for the Paris Olympics, Ahmed is grateful for the support he has received and is determined to give his best performance to make his country proud.
