Bahrain reiterates commitment to climate action

The Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, highlighted Bahrain’s achievements in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the annual forum under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This event aimed to assess international practices in achieving SDGs and review countries’ progress through voluntary national reviews. Alkhulaif emphasized Bahrain’s commitment to climate action and initiatives like the National Action Plan to Achieve Carbon Neutrality Blueprint Bahrain. She also highlighted Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2050 and its approach to societal and cultural development.

One of the key points discussed during the forum was the youth empowerment in shaping future aspirations. Alkhulaif advocated for the importance of involving youth in sustainable development efforts. She also engaged in bilateral discussions with UN officials to enhance sustainable development cooperation and leverage international expertise. The forum serves as a platform for global collaboration towards achieving the ambitious goals of sustainable development.

Alkhulaif also mentioned the “Bahrain Declaration” from the 33rd Arab Summit as an initiative that showcases Bahrain’s dedication to climate action. She emphasized the holistic approach taken by Bahrain in development, ensuring the preservation of heritage and identity. The minister’s participation in the forum highlighted Bahrain’s efforts in achieving SDGs and its commitment to sustainable development.

The opening session of the forum was attended by notable figures, including H.E. Ambassador Jamal Fares Al-Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the United Nations. The discussions during the session revolved around the progress made in SDG achievement since Bahrain’s second voluntary national review. Alkhulaif’s speech focused on Bahrain’s advancements and initiatives towards sustainable development, particularly in climate action and youth empowerment.

The forum served as a platform to address challenges linked with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to assess international practices in achieving SDGs. Alkhulaif’s participation and advocacy for Bahrain’s initiatives in sustainable development reaffirmed the kingdom’s commitment to climate action and societal development. The Minister’s engagement in bilateral discussions with UN officials also showcased Bahrain’s willingness to collaborate internationally in achieving sustainable development goals.

In conclusion, the participation of Minister Alkhulaif in the annual forum under ECOSOC highlighted Bahrain’s advancements in achieving SDGs and its commitment to climate action. Through initiatives like the National Action Plan to Achieve Carbon Neutrality Blueprint Bahrain and the Economic Vision 2050, Bahrain is taking a holistic approach to sustainable development.
