Residents in the UAE now have more options for budget travel as low-cost carriers expand their networks to popular tourist destinations in Western Europe and Southeast Asia. This expansion has enabled both Emirati and expat families to save money on airfare, which they can then spend on their hotel and travel experiences. Airlines such as Air Arabia, Flydubai, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, and Wizz Air are introducing new destinations, allowing travellers to explore places they have not visited before.

Low-cost carriers are aggressively expanding their aircraft fleets, enabling them to serve destinations beyond a five-hour travel radius, including the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, Georgia, Armenia, and other similar places. Recently, Air Arabia announced the launch of its service to Vienna, Austria, selling one-way tickets for only Dh399. Flydubai also operates flights to various European cities, offering budget-friendly options for travellers looking to explore new destinations without breaking the bank.

These budget carriers are providing UAE residents with the opportunity to book return tickets to European destinations for less than Dh2,000, making it a more affordable option compared to full-fledged commercial airlines. With the increasing market share of low-cost carriers in the Middle East, travellers have more choices to explore cost-effective travel options to popular tourist destinations in Europe and Asia. The addition of new and unserved destinations by low-cost carriers is giving travellers more flexibility in planning their holiday trips.

Many UAE residents are opting for low-cost carriers because of the cheaper airfares, allowing them to spend their saved money on experiences and better quality hotels at their destination. The introduction of budget airlines like Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has changed the local aviation sector, making long-haul travel more affordable for families and young people. Airfares on low-cost carriers are significantly lower than full-fledged carriers, saving travellers up to Dh1,500 on popular destinations like Vienna and Phuket.

Budget carriers have made it possible for middle-class families in the UAE to travel to popular tourist destinations beyond the five-hour flight radius at a lower cost. Demand for budget carriers is strong and growing, as families can now save up to 30-35% on their long-haul trips. With the availability of budget-friendly options, more travellers are choosing low-cost carriers to explore new destinations and create lasting memories without breaking the bank.
