Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan recently visited Turkey, emphasizing the significant progress in Saudi-Turkish relations across political, economic, and security domains. During his visit, he announced the signing of a protocol to amend the minutes establishing the Coordination Council, with plans for the second coordination meeting in Riyadh soon. This reflects the leadership’s commitment to advancing relations in all areas of mutual interest.

In a press conference in Istanbul following meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Prince Faisal highlighted that bilateral trade between Saudi Arabia and Turkey reached $6.8 billion in 2023, marking a 15% increase from the previous year. Discussions with his Turkish counterpart also covered regional issues, notably the Palestinian cause and Israeli actions in Gaza. Both countries affirmed aligned political stances aimed at revitalizing the regional peace process.

Prince Faisal underscored joint efforts to halt Israeli aggression, prevent Palestinian displacement, facilitate humanitarian aid to Gaza, and uphold the Palestinian right to self-determination through the establishment of an independent state recognized internationally. The Saudi-Turkish cooperation in these matters demonstrates a shared commitment to addressing regional challenges and promoting stability in the Middle East.

Anticipating enhanced economic cooperation, Prince Faisal welcomed the upcoming council session in Riyadh to foster effective partnerships between Saudi Arabia and Turkey. This demonstrates a mutual interest in expanding economic ties and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in various sectors. The ongoing efforts to strengthen economic relations between the two countries are expected to benefit both nations and contribute to regional stability and prosperity.

The signing of a protocol to amend the minutes establishing the Coordination Council reflects the commitment of both Saudi Arabia and Turkey to deepening their cooperation and advancing their strategic partnership. By convening the second coordination meeting in Riyadh, the two countries are demonstrating their dedication to working together on key issues of mutual interest. This proactive approach to strengthening relations is likely to yield positive outcomes for both nations and enhance their ability to address shared challenges effectively.

Overall, the recent developments in Saudi-Turkish relations highlight a growing partnership that spans across political, economic, and security domains. Through joint efforts to address regional challenges, promote economic cooperation, and advance shared interests, Saudi Arabia and Turkey are working towards a more stable and prosperous Middle East. The ongoing dialogue and collaboration between the two countries are crucial in achieving long-term peace and stability in the region.
