Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, a global foundation for education and development, has recently expressed its support for the G7 Education Ministers Declaration, which emphasizes sustainable financing of education. The G7 ministers from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States recognize the various challenges facing education, such as conflicts, climate change, and economic instability. They acknowledge education as a fundamental right globally, as outlined in Sustainable Development Goal 4, which emphasizes the importance of universal access to quality education.

Despite the importance of education, millions of children, adolescents, and youth around the world lack access to educational opportunities. According to UNESCO, there are approximately 250 million children out of school globally, with 69.9 million of primary school age. These children are among the most vulnerable and face numerous challenges. In response to these challenges, the EAA Foundation has supported around 15 million out-of-school children at the primary level to access quality education.

The G7 Declaration not only calls for support for education globally but also highlights the need to amplify youth-led initiatives for climate action and align with sustainable financing models, such as debt swaps. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of defending education against violence, as schools, teachers, and students are often targets of attacks. The EAA Foundation actively supports the annual UN International Day to Protect Education from Attack on September 9 and works towards ensuring uninterrupted education in conflict-affected areas.

To address the significant debt deficits that hinder international efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, Qatar and EAA Foundation have launched a Debt Relief for Education Initiative Program. This program aims to alleviate the debt burden of low- and middle-income countries, enabling them to make significant investments in education. This initiative aligns with EAA’s mission and enhances its advocacy efforts, fostering global collaboration and promoting accountability in education financing.

By supporting the G7 Education Ministers Declaration, the EAA Foundation is working towards achieving sustainability in education for all. The Declaration aligns with EAA’s goals of promoting inclusive and quality education worldwide. By advocating for sustainable financing and addressing the challenges facing education, the EAA Foundation is making strides towards ensuring that every child has access to a quality education.
