The Shura Council recently participated in the 5th plenary session of the 4th session of the Third Legislative Term of the Arab Parliament at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo. Represented by members H E Shaikha bint Yousef Al Jufairi, H E Essa bin Ahmad Al Nassr, H E Salem bin Rashid Al Muraikhi, and H E Hamad bin Abdullah Al Mulla, the session focused on discussing Arab developments and issues, as well as the recent events in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the aggressive actions of Israel against Gaza.
During the session, the attendees reviewed reports from the permanent committees of the Arab Parliament, including the report from the Palestine Committee detailing the measures taken in response to the Israeli aggression on Gaza. The members of the Arab Parliament expressed their condemnation of the ongoing brutality and genocide committed by the Israeli forces against the Palestinian people. They also denounced the violations of Palestinian natural resources and maritime borders by Israel.
Shaikha Al Jufairi, during the review of the Palestine Committee report, emphasized Qatar’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people, highlighting the efforts of the Shura Council in advocating for the Palestinian cause. She commended Qatar’s efforts in providing humanitarian and medical assistance to those affected by the aggression on Gaza and condemned the barbaric practices of the occupying entity. She also called for international recognition of Palestine in support of justice.
The ongoing massacres in Gaza have drawn attention to the criminal nature of the occupying entity, leading countries like Armenia, Spain, Norway, and Ireland to recognize the State of Palestine. Shaikha Al Jufairi urged all countries to expedite the recognition of Palestine to uphold international justice and end the humanitarian crisis that has plagued the region since October 2023.
