The Nepal embassy in Muscat, Oman, recently hosted a labour awareness and literature programme in collaboration with NRN Social Club Oman and International Nepali Literature Society Oman. This event took place on the occasion of the 211th Bhanu Jayanti, the birth anniversary of famous poet Adikabi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya. The main goal of the programme was to spread information about labour awareness through literary presentations and to promote Nepali language, literature, and culture. The event began with the lighting of a traditional Panas lamp by Dornath Aryal, Ambassador of Nepal to Oman.
During his welcome speech, Ambassador Aryal emphasized the significance of literature in human life and how literary works can raise awareness on important issues. He also announced that the embassy would continue to organize similar programmes in the future in partnership with Nepali organisations in Oman. Bishesh Kumar Sah, Second Secretary, gave a presentation on various essential topics related to labour awareness, such as the renewal of labour permits and the newly launched online demand attestation portal. Members of the Nepali Community in Oman, including Bikal Jha and Krishna Bhusal Pyasi, shared their perspectives on the importance of labour awareness and the role of literature in understanding life away from Nepal.
Throughout the event, 21 participants recited poems, sang songs, and presented their literary works to showcase the richness of Nepali literature and culture. The programme was jointly conducted by Bishesh Kumar Sah and Tolakanta Bhattarai, with the assistance of volunteers from various Nepali organizations based in Oman. These volunteers played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of the event and creating a supportive environment for participants to share their creative talents.
Overall, the labour awareness and literature programme organized by the Nepal embassy in Muscat was a successful and engaging event that celebrated the legacy of Adikabi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya and highlighted the importance of literature in raising awareness on social issues. Through poetry recitations, musical performances, and literary presentations, participants were able to express their creativity and deepen their connection to Nepali language and culture. The event also served as a platform for discussion and reflection on the experiences of Nepali migrants in Oman, emphasizing the role of literature in providing solace and understanding in unfamiliar environments.
By hosting events like this, the Nepal embassy and Nepali organizations in Oman are not only promoting cultural exchange and solidarity among the Nepali diaspora but also contributing to the preservation and promotion of Nepali language and literature in the global arena. As the community continues to grow and thrive in Oman, initiatives like the labour awareness and literature programme play a crucial role in fostering a sense of belonging and pride among Nepali expatriates while also serving as a bridge between their homeland and their adopted country.
