Bahrain is making significant strides in supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and fostering a strong partnership between the public and private sectors. Leena Habib Kassim, a member of the Shura Council, emphasized the importance of this approach in achieving the Bahrain Economic Vision 2023. The SMEs Development Board was established to enhance the entrepreneurship sector and provide necessary support to SMEs. Various initiatives and programs have been introduced, focusing on securing financing, accessing markets, encouraging innovation, developing skills, and simplifying the business environment.

Leena Habib Kassim highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to supporting SMEs during the “Financing the Business Idea” session at the 2nd Economic Parliamentary Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean Region & Gulf. She pointed out that the Supreme Council for Women has played a significant role in empowering and advancing Bahraini women in economic participation. The National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, with a vision for the phase (2023-2030), aims to support women in emerging economic sectors and align with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

The partnership between the public and private sectors in Bahrain is crucial for economic growth and achieving the country’s vision for the future. By supporting SMEs and providing the necessary resources and programs, Bahrain is creating a conducive environment for entrepreneurship to thrive. The establishment of the SMEs Development Board demonstrates the government’s commitment to enhancing the entrepreneurship sector and providing support to SMEs in various strategic areas.
