Three men are currently on trial for a forceful robbery incident that took place on November 4, 2022, in Manama. The defendants include a 22-year-old Arab man, an 18-year-old Bahraini, and a 39-year-old retired Bahraini. The High Criminal Court has adjourned the trial to July 14th to ensure the presence of all defendants and to inform the third defendant of the proceedings. The victim, a 40-year-old Asian man who worked as a driver for a transportation company, was approached by the suspects near a school in the Sitra area.

Court documents reveal that the two younger defendants allegedly used force to steal the victim’s mobile phone, Bluetooth earphones, and a silver chain he was wearing, while the retired Bahraini waited in the car. The victim testified that he was overpowered by the suspects, who held him while one stole his belongings. A police officer involved in the investigation confirmed that the suspects had prior records of similar offenses, leading to their identification.

During the trial, the first defendant admitted to being present at the scene of the crime and participating in the robbery with the other two defendants. He confessed to stealing the victim’s chain and earphones. The court also reviewed CCTV footage from the school, showing the car belonging to the third defendant stopping near the victim. Additionally, the victim’s chain was recovered from the first defendant during a search, further implicating the defendants.

Further proceedings in the trial are set to resume on July 14th, where the defendants will be present in court, and the third defendant will be formally informed of the charges against him. The court will likely review the criminal records of the defendants, which confirm past convictions for similar offenses. The victim’s testimony, along with the evidence presented in court, will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the case. The trial serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding justice and ensuring that those responsible for criminal acts are held accountable for their actions.
