The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in Bahrain has recently signed an agreement with the Chinese company CMEC to begin the third and final phase of the Sitra Housing Project. This phase will include the construction of 1,269 new housing units at a cost of 119 million Bahraini dinars, along with the establishment of secondary infrastructure services. The project is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025. Minister Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi highlighted that this phase represents the largest number of housing units and the final stage in the project’s construction schedule.

In a meeting held in Beijing, China, Minister Al Rumaihi and Wang Bo, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of CMEC, discussed ways to enhance cooperation on housing projects, specifically through the government’s land development rights programme. This programme aims to provide opportunities for the private sector to participate in the development of housing units for Bahraini citizens by utilizing the Ministry’s financing services such as “Tas’heel” and “New Mazaya.” The Sitra Housing Project is designed as an integrated city with residential units, green spaces, road networks, waterfronts, and various facilities for education, health, and commerce.

The third phase of the Sitra Housing Project will cover an area of 670,000 square meters and include the construction of infrastructure such as main and secondary roads, sewage and rainwater drainage networks, lighting networks, electricity substations, and communications towers. Additionally, the project will feature a commercial complex, commercial centers, schools, a cultural center, an events hall, and a child development center. This phase of the project is expected to bring about significant improvements and additions to the existing infrastructure, benefiting both the residents of the housing units and the surrounding community.

The partnership between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and CMEC signifies a commitment to developing high-quality housing units in Bahrain, while also improving the overall infrastructure of the Sitra Housing Project. By leveraging the expertise and resources of CMEC, the project aims to create a sustainable and modern living environment for Bahraini citizens. The Minister emphasized the importance of this collaboration in meeting the housing needs of the growing population and providing enhanced facilities and services for residents.

The agreement signed between the Ministry and CMEC marks a significant milestone in the development of the Sitra Housing Project, which has been designed to accommodate the housing needs of Bahraini citizens. The project’s focus on creating a well-rounded and integrated community underscores the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents. With the upcoming construction of the third phase, the project is set to reach its completion and deliver a comprehensive range of housing units and facilities to meet the diverse needs of the community.

Overall, the partnership between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and CMEC is expected to pave the way for the successful completion of the Sitra Housing Project. Through this collaboration, Bahrain is poised to achieve its goal of providing high-quality housing units and state-of-the-art facilities for its citizens. The third phase of the project represents a significant step towards fulfilling this objective, and it is anticipated that the completed project will serve as a model for future housing developments in the country. By working together, the government and private sector are working towards a common goal of enhancing the living standards and well-being of the Bahraini population.
