The Ministry of Labour in Doha, Qatar recently participated in the ‘Healthy Workers for Sustainable Development’ campaign organized by the National Human Rights Committee. This campaign, in collaboration with various organizations such as the International Labour Organisation, the World Health Organization, and the Qatar Red Crescent, aimed to raise awareness among employers and workers about the importance of a safe and healthy working environment. The Ministry’s involvement in this campaign is part of its dedication to ensuring workers’ health and safety in the workplace, enforcing occupational safety procedures, and ensuring establishments comply with labour laws.

During the campaign’s closing ceremony, Saad Rashid Al Nabit, Assistant Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department at the Ministry of Labour, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to encouraging employers and private sector companies to provide essential training and qualifications for workers. He also stressed the importance of promoting awareness and compliance with safety and health regulations among both workers and employers. This effort is aimed at enhancing efficiency, productivity, and minimizing risks related to occupational diseases and accidents, aligning with Qatar’s strong focus on worker safety and health.

Al Nabit highlighted the State’s dedication to workers’ rights through reforms to policies and laws for better working conditions, ensuring decent work, respect for dignity, and safety in workplaces and housing. These reforms have shown positive results in line with current and future development goals. The Ministry of Labour, particularly the Occupational Safety and Health Department, aims to enhance collaboration and build a positive partnership with the National Human Rights Committee. This partnership focuses on upgrading the work environment and ensuring workers’ rights to a safe working environment that meets all standards.

He also expressed readiness to participate in all initiatives held by the National Human Rights Committee that focus on the safety and health of workers. This ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Labour and the National Human Rights Committee underlines the importance placed on promoting safety and health in the workplace. By working together to raise awareness, enforce regulations, and provide training opportunities, both organizations are dedicated to improving the working conditions for all workers in Qatar. The joint efforts aim to create a positive impact on efficiency, productivity, and overall well-being of employees while minimizing risks associated with occupational hazards.
