The Minister of Education and Higher Education, H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi recently visited a school to review the activities and programs offered to students during the summer vacation. She praised the diverse activities of summer centers and the engagement of students with their peers, stating that these activities would promote positive behaviors and enhance students’ skills and talents. The strategic partnership between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Sports in operating these centers was highlighted as a way to encourage students to make the most of their leisure time during the summer vacation.
Minister of Sports and Youth, H E Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani stressed the importance of summer activities in helping young people adapt to current requirements and address challenges. He stated that youth institutions in Qatar are committed to supporting the Qatari youth and empowering them through social approaches that involve them in society and provide training opportunities. The summer centers began their activities on July 1 with over 1,100 participants from both genders in the first week. The programs offered catered to diverse age groups and included intellectual, physical, artistic, social, awareness-raising, and technological activities.
The activities held in the summer centers aim to help students develop balanced personalities, improve their skills, teach them responsibility, and encourage them to serve society. These centers are staffed with trained administrative and educational teams to ensure smooth operation from July 1 to August 8. Each center accommodates 300 students daily for four hours from 9am to 1pm, with participants ranging from 6 to 18 years old. There are twenty-three centers and youth organizations nationwide offering various activities and programs provided by entities such as the Friends of the Environment Center, Qatar Scientific Club, Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center (Aman), and the Ministry of Interior.
Overall, the summer centers and organizations provide students with opportunities to engage in activities that enhance their talents and creative skills. The Minister of Education and Higher Education praised the efforts of the centers in promoting positive behaviors among students and providing them with a platform to develop their various skills.
