The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in Bahrain recently conducted a week-long inspection campaign to address violations of labor laws in the country. The inspections took place from June 30th to July 6th and involved 616 checks across various establishments. As a result of these inspections, 50 irregular workers were detained and 118 violators were deported. The focus was on identifying and addressing breaches of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority Law and the Residency Law, with legal actions taken against those found in violation.

During the campaign, the LMRA conducted 600 individual inspections at commercial establishments in all governorates. Additionally, 16 joint inspection campaigns were carried out in collaboration with other government agencies. These agencies included the Ministry of Interior’s Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), security directorates, the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority. This multi-agency approach highlights the commitment of the LMRA to working with other government bodies to intensify these inspections and combat violations that impact Bahrain’s labor market stability, competitiveness, and security.

As part of their efforts to tackle labor law violations, the LMRA is encouraging the public to cooperate by reporting any suspected irregular employment practices. Complaints can be lodged through various channels such as the LMRA’s website, the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul), or by calling the LMRA call center. By actively engaging with the public and encouraging them to report violations, the LMRA aims to create a culture of compliance and accountability in the labor market. This collaboration between the authorities and the public is crucial in ensuring that labor laws are upheld and workers are protected from exploitation and abuse.

The recent inspection campaign by the LMRA underscores the importance of enforcing labor laws to maintain a fair and healthy labor market in Bahrain. By cracking down on violators and irregular workers, the LMRA is sending a strong message that non-compliance will not be tolerated. This proactive approach not only protects the rights of workers but also contributes to creating a level playing field for businesses operating in Bahrain. Employers are reminded to adhere to labor regulations and ensure the welfare of their employees to avoid facing penalties and legal actions.

Moving forward, the LMRA is committed to continuing their efforts to enforce labor laws and regulations in Bahrain. By working closely with other government agencies and engaging with the public, the LMRA aims to create a robust system for monitoring and addressing labor law violations. Through sustained inspection campaigns and increased cooperation from the public, the LMRA seeks to eliminate illegal practices that undermine the integrity of Bahrain’s labor market. This ongoing commitment to upholding labor laws will help protect the rights of workers and maintain a fair and transparent labor market for all stakeholders.

In conclusion, the recent inspection campaign conducted by the LMRA in Bahrain highlights the importance of enforcing labor laws to ensure a fair and compliant labor market. By detaining irregular workers, deporting violators, and taking legal actions against offenders, the LMRA is sending a clear message that violations will not be tolerated. Through collaboration with other government agencies and the public, the LMRA aims to create a culture of compliance and accountability in the labor market. Employers are urged to adhere to labor regulations to avoid penalties and legal consequences. With continued efforts and cooperation, the LMRA is dedicated to safeguarding the rights of workers and maintaining a competitive and secure labor market in Bahrain.
