Two young innovators from Russia and Ukraine have collaborated at a Dubai school, turning their classroom project into a product that is now part of the school uniform. The initiative was part of the school’s Citizens’ Entrepreneurship Curriculum and Project-Based Learning programme, where Year 5 and 6 learners were asked to design their own T-shirts. Artem Buhai and Bers Nikaev, both Year 6 students at the time, created a unique design that symbolized world peace and simplicity, inspired by the planets. The design was well received and is now available for online purchase as part of the official school uniform.
Artem and Bers initially created three designs but were not satisfied with any of them. They ultimately decided on a planets theme, incorporating elements of planet Earth with water and grass. The duo aimed to create a design that showcased simplicity and symbolized world peace. The T-shirts were well received, with many students at Citizens School now wearing the popular “Artem and Bers Tee”. The boys were proud to see their creation become a part of the school uniform and aspire to create more designs in the future.
The young entrepreneurs were inspired by Artem’s mother, who is a designer, and enjoyed the process of creating something that others could use and wear. The T-shirts were a hit among students, and the boys were thrilled to see their friends wearing them. Bers explained that the design not only looks visually appealing but also conveys a powerful message about protecting the environment. The boys are now considering designing shorts to complete the set, adding to the excitement of seeing their creations come to life.
The school’s Entrepreneurship Curriculum provides hands-on experiential learning and real-world application of knowledge. According to Dr. Adil Alzarooni, Founder of Citizens School, the curriculum aims to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, resilience, and teamwork skills essential for survival in today’s ever-evolving world. Alzarooni emphasized that entrepreneurship is accessible to everyone, regardless of age, background, or experience. The collaboration between the young entrepreneurs and the school showcases how innovative ideas can be turned into reality and integrated into official school uniforms.
The collaboration between Artem and Bers highlights the impact of hands-on experiential learning and project-based initiatives in fostering creativity and innovation among students. The young entrepreneurs’ success story serves as an inspiration to other learners, encouraging them to pursue their innovative ideas. The school’s support and encouragement have played a crucial role in empowering students to think creatively and develop entrepreneurial skills. The inclusion of the T-shirts in the school uniform further motivates students to explore their creative potential and contribute to the school community. The success of Artem and Bers demonstrates the power of collaboration, creativity, and entrepreneurship in shaping the future of education and inspiring the next generation of innovators.
