During the summer vacation travel rush, Dubai International Airport (DXB) will see increased traffic from July 6 to 17, with an estimated 3.3 million guests arriving and departing through its terminals. To manage the rush, airport authorities have announced restrictions for non-passengers. Only passengers will be allowed inside the terminals during peak periods, and those dropping off passengers are advised to exchange farewells at home. Additionally, access to the arrivals’ forecourts in both Terminals 1 and 3 is restricted to public transport and authorised airport vehicles only.

Flydubai passengers are recommended to arrive at least four hours before departure, while other airlines suggest arriving no earlier than three hours ahead of schedule. The busiest weekend is expected to be July 12-14, with DXB welcoming 840,000 passengers during that time. The single busiest day is projected to be July 13, with 286,000 travellers anticipated. On average, the airport will handle around 274,000 travellers daily during the peak period. Emirates Airline has warned passengers to expect extra traffic on the roads leading to the airport.

To alleviate road congestion, Dubai Airports advises travellers to use the Dubai Metro to get to and from the airport and between Terminals 1 and 3. They also recommend allowing extra time for check-in, security screening, and boarding processes for a smooth journey. Other travel tips include familiarising oneself with airline baggage allowance and packing regulations, preparing for security screening by placing metal items in hand luggage, using smart gates for expedited passport control for children over 12, and packing spare batteries and power banks in hand luggage.

This summer is anticipated to be exceptionally busy, with dnata reporting a 35% increase in international travel bookings for July and August compared to last year. As schools remain closed in the UAE during these months, it is a popular time for families to travel. With the increased traffic at DXB, it is essential for passengers to be prepared and follow the airport’s guidelines to ensure a seamless travel experience. By adhering to the regulations and travel tips provided, travellers can navigate the summer rush efficiently and enjoy a hassle-free journey to their destinations.
