When planning a long-haul flight, the UAE often serves as a halfway point for many travellers. If you find yourself with a layover in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, take advantage of the opportunity to explore a bit of the Emirates. The airports in the country strive to provide a seamless and convenient experience for passengers, with smart gates and home check-ins to simplify the process. For those transiting through, authorities go above and beyond to make the pit stop worthwhile, but make sure to have a transit visa unless exempted.

Travellers on a stopover in the UAE can explore the destination without the burden of carrying their luggage. Airports offer baggage storage options for a fee, allowing visitors to move around freely without lugging heavy suitcases. This is especially convenient for those looking to capture memories at iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai or the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Stay updated with the latest news by following KT on WhatsApp Channels.

In Dubai, short-term baggage storage is available 24/7 at Dubai International Airport’s Terminals 1 and 3. At Terminal 1, luggage can be dropped off at Dnata Baggage Services in the arrivals section, near Boots Pharmacy and Etisalat. Fees for storage include Dh40 for 12 hours or less for standard-size luggage and Dh50 for larger or valuable baggage. At Terminal 3, travellers can use the ‘Emirates Left Luggage’ area near Exit 1, with fees starting at Dh35 for standard-size luggage for 12 hours or less.

For travellers looking to explore more of Abu Dhabi during a layover, there is a storage facility at Zayed International Airport. Located in the Arrivals section, Level 0, across from Etisalat and next to the Lost and Found centre, this service allows transit passengers to securely store their luggage. Fees for storage start at Dh35 for up to 3 hours and go up to Dh140 for up to 72 hours. After 72 hours, additional fees of Dh35 per day apply. Be sure to plan your storage needs accordingly to avoid any extra charges.

In conclusion, making the most of a stopover in the UAE is convenient with the option of luggage storage at the airports. This allows travellers to explore popular attractions or simply relax during their layover without the hassle of carrying heavy bags around. Whether in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, take advantage of the opportunity to experience a slice of the Emirates while on your journey. Stay informed with KT’s WhatsApp Channels for the latest news and updates during your time in the UAE. Plan ahead and make your layover a memorable part of your trip.
