The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in Bahrain has introduced electronic services for Domestic Employee permits. This initiative allows employers to complete all operations related to Domestic Employees through the Expatriate Management System (EMS) without the need to visit the authority. CEO of LMRA, Mr. Nibras Talib, highlighted that this move is in line with the government’s efforts to streamline government-related processes and enhance service quality.
Employers, particularly those directly employing domestic workers, can use the Advanced e-Key issued by the Information & eGovernment Authority to apply for issuance, renewal, or termination of work permits, increase the ceiling of Domestic Employees, and change the profession of a domestic worker through the EMS. They can also approve requests from domestic employee recruitment offices and make fee payments using debit or credit cards. Additionally, employers can monitor the progress of their transactions, view the list of workers under their record, and access related data such as the expiration date of the work permit and legal status.
These new electronic services for Domestic Employee permits are part of LMRA’s process re-engineering initiatives and its shift towards digitalization. Previously, the authority streamlined the process of applying for domestic employee permits through licensed employment offices, enabling them to complete all related transactions electronically without visiting any relevant government entities. These enhancements are aimed at improving the overall experience for employers and making the process more efficient.
For more information or inquiries about the electronic services for Domestic Employee permits, individuals can visit the LMRA website at www.lmra.gov.bh or contact the LMRA Call Center at 17506055. By adopting these electronic services, employers can save time and effort by completing their transactions conveniently online while still having the option to apply in person at LMRA branches for those who prefer to do so. The authority’s commitment to continuously enhancing service quality reflects its dedication to meeting the needs of employers and contributing to the government’s efforts towards modernizing processes.
