Tamkeen, a public authority in Bahrain, recently announced a significant support bundle for the healthcare sector in the country. This initiative follows the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Khalifa to increase support for employing Bahraini doctors. The support bundle aims to train and develop over 700 Bahrainis in the healthcare sector, with a focus on various medical specializations. The Supreme Council of Health and Tamkeen have entered into a joint agreement to implement this support bundle, which includes five main initiatives.

The first two initiatives will assist Bahraini doctors in obtaining their Board certification, in partnership with the Supreme Council of Health. The third initiative will support medical fellowships for Bahraini doctors to join specialized programs and become qualified consultants. Additionally, there are initiatives aimed at nursing, including supporting high school students in obtaining nursing bachelor’s degrees and specialization in various in-demand fields such as Midwifery, Intensive Care, Cardiovascular Care, Kidney Diseases, and Emergency Care.

During a press conference, His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Ali Al-Nawakhatha, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Health, expressed gratitude for the partnership in providing training opportunities for Bahraini youth in the healthcare sector. He emphasized the importance of supporting national talent in the field of healthcare. The support bundle aligns with Tamkeen’s commitment to supporting Bahrainis working in the healthcare sector, a key economic sector contributing to the national economy.

Applications for the Resident Doctor Program will open in July 2024 through the Supreme Council of Health’s website. The Medical Fellowship Program and the support initiative for nursing professionals will be announced in August 2024. Opportunities for bachelor’s degrees in nursing will be included in the Ministry of Education’s scholarship plan. Tamkeen’s support for the healthcare sector in Bahrain is part of its strategic priorities for the year 2024, focusing on economic impact and the private sector.

The support bundle for the healthcare sector in Bahrain is a significant step towards enhancing the capabilities of Bahraini doctors and nurses. This initiative will not only benefit individuals in the field but also contribute to the overall development of the healthcare sector in the country. The partnership between the Supreme Council of Health and Tamkeen underscores the importance of collaboration in supporting national talent and providing opportunities for growth and development in the healthcare industry.

The commitment to training and developing Bahraini healthcare professionals demonstrates a long-term investment in the sector’s future. By providing support for obtaining certifications and specialized training, the support bundle aims to elevate the skills and knowledge of Bahraini doctors and nurses, ultimately improving the quality of healthcare services in the country. This initiative also aligns with Tamkeen’s strategic priorities for economic impact and private sector development.

Overall, the support bundle announced by Tamkeen for the healthcare sector in Bahrain represents a significant investment in the development of national talent and the enhancement of healthcare services in the country. The collaboration between various stakeholders, including the Supreme Council of Health, highlights the importance of partnerships in achieving common goals. With a focus on training, development, and support for Bahraini healthcare professionals, this initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the sector and contribute to the overall economic growth of Bahrain.
