His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, recently presided over the regular weekly assembly of the Cabinet at Gudaibiya Palace. The Cabinet extended its highest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the occasion of the approaching new Hijri year 1446. They prayed for a year of benevolence and prosperity for Bahrain and its citizens, as well as security and safety for Arab and Islamic nations.

In line with a royal decree issued by His Majesty the King to safeguard Bahrain’s historical and cultural buildings, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa mandated the initiation of a comprehensive scheme to rejuvenate the historic Manama Souq area. The objective is to maintain the area’s historical and cultural identity while addressing the infrastructural needs of the local community.

The Cabinet also discussed the unfolding developments and military escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli border, following the directives of His Majesty the King and Bahrain’s presidency for the thirty-third Arab Summit. Emphasizing the importance of avoiding a broadening conflict, the Council aimed to safeguard the security of Lebanon and promote peace and stability in the region.

Furthermore, the Cabinet highlighted the importance of combatting human trafficking to reinforce Bahrain’s status as a leader in safeguarding the rights of workers and employers. Bahrain has consistently received a Tier 1 ranking in the US State Department’s Trafficking in Persons Report for the seventh consecutive year. This recognition reflects the vision and aspirations of His Majesty the King and the Crown Prince in establishing justice and protecting the rights of all parties in the labour market.

The initiative to rejuvenate the historic Manama Souq area demonstrates Bahrain’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage while meeting the needs of the local community. By following the royal decree to safeguard historical and cultural buildings, Bahrain is taking steps to ensure that future generations can appreciate and enjoy these important landmarks.

In discussing the military escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli border, Bahrain emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region. By following the directives of His Majesty the King and participating in the Arab Summit, Bahrain is playing a key role in promoting diplomacy and conflict resolution in the Middle East.

Through its efforts to combat human trafficking and protect the rights of workers and employers, Bahrain has solidified its reputation as a leader in promoting justice and equality in the labour market. The consistent Tier 1 ranking in the Trafficking in Persons Report is a testament to Bahrain’s commitment to upholding human rights and fighting against exploitation and abuse.
