Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, the bronze medalists in beach volleyball at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, are gearing up to showcase their talent once again at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The duo, currently ranked 14th in the FIVB Beach Volleyball standings, has been placed in Group A alongside strong competitors from Sweden, Italy, and Australia. The official draw divided the 24 participating teams into six groups, setting the stage for an exciting competition.

In their maiden appearance at the Olympics in Tokyo three years ago, Cherif and Ahmed made history by becoming the first medal winners for Qatar in beach volleyball. Since then, they have continued to impress, successfully defending their Asian Games gold and remaining strong contenders for a podium spot in Paris. Their consistent performance has earned them direct qualification to the 2024 Games, solidifying their status as top-ranked competitors in Asia.

The road to Paris is not without its challenges, as the duo will face tough opponents from around the world. Group A includes the World No.1 pair from Sweden, as well as teams from Italy and Australia. Group B features teams from Norway, the Netherlands, Italy, and Chile, while Group C includes Germany, Poland, Australia, and hosts France. With such strong competition, Cherif and Ahmed will need to bring their A-game to secure a spot on the podium.

The Olympic world ranking played a key role in determining the teams that would qualify directly for the Paris Games. Along with the top-ranked teams, the host nation and winners of the 2023 world championships and Continental Cups also received tickets to Paris. Cherif and Ahmed’s qualification was confirmed by the International Federation, highlighting Qatar’s strong presence in the sport of beach volleyball.

The stage is set for an exciting showdown at the 14,000-seat Olympic beach volleyball stadium at Champ-de-Mars Park in Paris. Against the backdrop of the iconic Eiffel Tower, teams from around the world will battle it out for the elusive gold medal. Cherif and Ahmed’s journey from bronze medalists in Tokyo to contenders for the top spot in Paris is a testament to their skill, dedication, and determination. As they prepare to take on the best in the world, the duo is ready to make Qatar proud once again on the Olympic stage.
