In their maiden appearance at the Olympics in Tokyo three years ago, Cherif and Ahmed made history by becoming the first medal winners for Qatar in beach volleyball. Since then, they have continued to impress, successfully defending their Asian Games gold and remaining strong contenders for a podium spot in Paris. Their consistent performance has earned them direct qualification to the 2024 Games, solidifying their status as top-ranked competitors in Asia.
The road to Paris is not without its challenges, as the duo will face tough opponents from around the world. Group A includes the World No.1 pair from Sweden, as well as teams from Italy and Australia. Group B features teams from Norway, the Netherlands, Italy, and Chile, while Group C includes Germany, Poland, Australia, and hosts France. With such strong competition, Cherif and Ahmed will need to bring their A-game to secure a spot on the podium.
The Olympic world ranking played a key role in determining the teams that would qualify directly for the Paris Games. Along with the top-ranked teams, the host nation and winners of the 2023 world championships and Continental Cups also received tickets to Paris.
