Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja recently announced his retirement from T20 Internationals after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 title. In a heartfelt statement on Instagram, Jadeja expressed his gratitude for the memories and support throughout his T20 International career. He made his T20I debut in 2009, playing a total of 74 matches where he took 54 wickets and scored 515 runs.

Jadeja’s best bowling performance in T20Is came against Scotland in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup, where he took three wickets for just 15 runs. With the bat, his standout performance was against England in 2022, scoring 46 runs off 29 balls. The 35-year-old all-rounder has been a key player for the Indian cricket team in the shortest format of the game and has contributed significantly to the team’s success.

India’s victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa saw a stellar performance from the team. Virat Kohli and Axar Patel played crucial knocks, leading India to a total of 176/7 in their 20 overs. In the run chase, Proteas fought back with partnerships but fell short, thanks to India’s death bowling trio of Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya.

The win marked the end of India’s 11-year-long ICC trophy drought, with their last ICC title being the Champions Trophy in 2013. India became the first team to win the ICC T20 World Cup title undefeated. Virat Kohli’s outstanding performance earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award, highlighting his crucial contributions to the team’s success in the final.

With Jadeja’s retirement from T20 Internationals, the Indian team will be looking to fill the gap left by the experienced all-rounder. Jadeja’s consistent performances with both bat and ball have been instrumental in India’s success in T20Is, and his presence will be missed in the shortest format of the game. Fans and teammates alike will cherish the memories created by Jadeja in T20 International cricket.

As India celebrates their victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, the team has once again proved their mettle on the global stage. The triumph not only ended their ICC trophy drought but also solidified their position as a powerhouse in international cricket. With a talented squad and strong leadership, India will be aiming to build on their success and continue their winning streak in future tournaments.
