Naomi Osaka, the Japanese tennis sensation, is aiming for a triumphant comeback at Wimbledon as she prepares to celebrate her daughter’s first birthday. The four-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one has not played at the prestigious All England Club since 2019. Osaka is set to face Diane Parry of France in her opening match on Monday, just a day before her daughter Shai turns one. The 26-year-old expressed her excitement about celebrating this milestone with her daughter and described her journey as lucky and blessed, with her daughter being a happy girl full of energy.

Despite her success on hard courts, including winning the US Open and Australian Open, Osaka’s performance at Wimbledon has been mixed. She reached the third round in 2017 and 2018, facing tough opponents in Venus Williams and Angelique Kerber. Her last appearance in 2019 ended in a disappointing first-round loss to Yulia Putintseva. In order to prepare for this year’s tournament, Osaka sought advice from seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic on adapting to grass courts and overcoming the fear of getting hurt.

Currently ranked at 113 in the world, Osaka has shown promising form since returning to the tour earlier this year after maternity leave. At the French Open, she gave top-ranked Iga Swiatek a tough challenge, even holding a match point in their second-round match. Osaka reached the quarter-finals of a grass-court tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and battled world number eight Zheng Qinwen to three sets in Berlin. Despite not making many quarter-finals this year, Osaka feels confident in her game and believes she has the skills to excel on grass courts.

Reflecting on her recent matches, Osaka acknowledges the lessons learned from each competition, including a first-round loss in Berlin. She remains optimistic about her performance and the feedback she has received from others about her potential for success on grass courts. With a positive mindset and a desire for luck on her side, Osaka is determined to make a strong showing at Wimbledon and showcase her talent on the grand stage. As she gears up for her first match, she is motivated by her daughter’s birthday and the opportunity to create a memorable moment on and off the court.

In conclusion, Naomi Osaka’s return to Wimbledon is fueled by her determination to excel on grass courts and make her daughter’s first birthday a special occasion. Despite facing challenges in past Wimbledon tournaments, Osaka is seeking guidance from tennis legends like Novak Djokovic to enhance her performance. With a renewed sense of confidence and a string of solid performances leading up to the tournament, Osaka is poised to make a mark at Wimbledon and demonstrate her skills on the court. As she embarks on this exciting journey, Osaka remains focused on her goals and is ready to overcome any obstacles in her path to success.
