The Ministry of Works in Bahrain has released plans for a major expansion and renovation of Budaiya Highway, a key transportation route in the country. The project aims to improve traffic flow, safety, and connectivity along the 6.5-kilometre stretch of the highway, from the Al Qadam Roundabout to the Janabiya Highway intersection. New 3-lane dual carriageways will be constructed, along with the installation of four new traffic signals to replace existing roundabouts and updates to the current traffic signal at the Janabiya Highway intersection.
In addition to road improvements, the project will include new street lighting, the diversion and protection of existing utility infrastructure, and the construction of footbridges to enhance pedestrian safety and connectivity along Budaiya Highway. The Ministry of Works has announced that work on the project is set to begin in the coming months, following the selection of a contractor through the tender process. Two well-known construction firms, Haji Hassan Group and Nass Contracting, are competing for the tender with bid values of BHD 29,936,870.990 and BHD 31,435,270.000 respectively.
The primary goal of the Budaiya Highway expansion and renovation project is to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and enhance the overall functionality of this crucial transportation corridor in Bahrain. By implementing these upgrades, the Ministry of Works aims to address current traffic issues, improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians, and strengthen connectivity between various parts of the region. The project reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and driving economic growth through strategic investments in transportation networks.
The development of Budaiya Highway is expected to have a positive impact on the surrounding areas, providing easier access to key destinations for residents, businesses, and commuters. The new road layout, traffic signals, and pedestrian facilities will not only improve the efficiency of the transportation system but also contribute to the overall quality of life in the region. By modernizing and expanding Budaiya Highway, Bahrain is taking a proactive approach to meeting the evolving needs of its growing population and ensuring sustainable development for the future.
As the project moves forward, the Ministry of Works will work closely with the selected contractor to ensure that construction proceeds smoothly and efficiently. Regular updates on the progress of the Budaiya Highway expansion and renovation will be provided to the public, allowing residents and stakeholders to stay informed and engaged throughout the duration of the project. By fostering transparency and communication, the Ministry of Works aims to build trust and support among the community for this important infrastructure initiative.
In conclusion, the expansion and renovation of Budaiya Highway represent a significant investment in Bahrain’s transportation infrastructure, with the potential to deliver long-term benefits for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. By enhancing connectivity, safety, and efficiency along this key corridor, the project will play a vital role in supporting economic growth and improving quality of life in the region. As construction gets underway in the coming months, the Ministry of Works is committed to delivering a high-quality outcome that meets the needs of the community and contributes to the continued development of Bahrain’s transportation network.
