Russian officials have reported that at least five people were killed in Ukrainian strikes on Kursk, with the Defence Ministry stating that six Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight in various regions, including the Crimean Peninsula. These attacks come as part of ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with at least 11 people reported dead in Russian attacks across eastern Ukraine on Saturday. Rescuers in Dnipro are currently searching through rubble after a strike on a residential building left one person dead. Russia continues to stretch Ukraine’s troops along the 1,000-kilometre frontline, with Moscow increasing airstrikes to drain Ukraine’s resources, targeting energy facilities and other infrastructure.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on social media that seven people had been killed in missile strikes on Vilniansk, outside Zaporizhzhia. He emphasized the need for destroying terrorists, eliminating Russian missile launchers, and increasing air defence systems in Ukraine. Zelenskyy is urging allies to provide long-range weapons and enhanced air defences to combat daily attacks on Ukraine. Zaporizhzhia Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov condemned the deadly terrorist attack on civilians, stating that the strike occurred in a non-military area during a non-working day. The governor of the frontline village of Niu-York in Donetsk reported that Russian forces had shelled populated areas 13 times in the past 24 hours.

The Ukrainian air force reported downing 10 Russian drones launched in overnight attacks. Zelenskyy stressed the importance of high-quality air defence systems and global determination to stop Russian terror. Russian officials also reported Ukrainian attacks in the Kursk region, resulting in the deaths of five people, including two children. The Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the downing of six Ukrainian drones overnight in various regions, including the Crimean Peninsula. Belarus also announced an increase in forces along Ukraine’s northern border in response to alleged security threats, claiming to have downed a Ukrainian drone. Kyiv dismissed the accusations as Russian propaganda.

The escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine has resulted in multiple casualties on both sides, with devastating attacks on civilians and vital infrastructure. The ongoing conflict has forced Ukraine to strengthen its defences and seek support from allies to combat Russian aggression. The Ukrainian government has emphasized the need for advanced weaponry and air defence systems to counter Russian attacks. Meanwhile, Russian officials have reported Ukrainian strikes in various regions, including the Crimea Peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014. The situation remains volatile, with both sides engaging in military actions that are causing significant loss of life and destruction.

As the conflict continues to escalate, the international community is urged to take a stand against Russian aggression and support Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty. President Zelenskyy’s calls for increased military aid and air defences are essential to protect Ukrainian civilians from further attacks. The ongoing violence in eastern Ukraine highlights the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and an end to the bloodshed. The world must come together to condemn the violence and work towards a diplomatic solution that ensures the safety and security of the people of Ukraine. It is crucial for global leaders to take action and prevent further escalation of hostilities in the region to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.
