Bahrain commences construction of national pavilion for Expo Osaka 2025.

The Kingdom of Bahrain has started constructing its national pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025, which will take place in Japan from April to October 2025. The theme for the event is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” with the foundation stone being laid during an official ceremony attended by key dignitaries. His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, expressed pride in representing the Kingdom and showcasing its culture and innovation on the global stage.

The Bahrain Pavilion at Expo Osaka will cover an area of 995 square meters over four floors, designed by Lebanese-French architect Lina Ghotmeh to highlight traditional ships and Bahrain’s maritime heritage. The design incorporates Bahraini and Japanese craftsmanship, emphasizing sustainability by being made entirely of wood with plans for recycling post-Expo. The pavilion’s location near the sea will use ancient cooling methods for ventilation, reducing the need for mechanical cooling.

The pavilion’s interior and exhibition are being developed by Bahraini design studio “Shepard Studio,” offering an interactive experience for visitors to learn about Bahrain’s sea culture and resources. The participation in Expo Osaka also aims to promote Bahrain’s economic competitiveness and attractiveness for investment globally. Expo Osaka 2025 will focus on themes like sustaining life, enhancing life, and communication, expecting over 28 million visitors and participation from 150 countries. It will serve as a platform for cultural exchange and knowledge sharing among nations.

With the completion of the Bahrain Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025, the Kingdom aims to strengthen its international presence and highlight its achievements in various fields. The pavilion’s design and construction reflect Bahrain’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, with the use of traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques to create a unique and immersive experience for visitors. The Expo will provide an opportunity for Bahrain to showcase its culture, economic potential, and position as a hub of innovation on a global platform.
