In the scorching summer heat of the UAE, outdoor activities may seem impossible, but there are still a few places where residents can enjoy some cool air and shade. One such spot is the Kalba Mangrove Centre, which boasts lush green forests and cool waters. Visitors can take an outdoor tour and witness the oldest mangrove forest in the UAE, complete with towering trees and a variety of wildlife like beach birds, crabs, turtles, and fishes.

Another cool outdoor spot is the Al Ain Oasis, a UNESCO World Heritage site that spans across 1,200 hectares of land. Home to over 1,47,000 date palm trees and a plethora of vegetation, the oasis offers a peaceful retreat from the summer heat. Visitors can also learn about the ancient irrigation system known as falaj, which provides water to the oasis through intricate channels.

Shajar in Sharjah is a unique nursery by Arada that offers a refreshing escape from the summer heat. With hundreds of trees spread across a vast area, Shajar is one of the largest nurseries in the country. Visitors can explore the nursery for free and learn about the different types of trees that thrive in the region.

For an adventurous experience, visitors can head to Hatta Falaj, where they can explore a centuries-old falaj irrigation system from underneath. The tunnel under the ground extends for 587 meters, allowing visitors to don helmets and boots and immerse themselves in the unique experience. The activity is priced at Dh49 per person, offering a fun and educational experience for all ages.

Despite the intense summer temperatures in the UAE, residents can still find cool and refreshing outdoor spots to enjoy. Whether it’s exploring mangrove forests, strolling through lush oasis gardens, visiting a tree nursery, or delving into ancient irrigation systems, there are plenty of options for a fun and relaxing time outdoors. So, don’t let the heat deter you from exploring these cool spots and enjoying the beauty of nature in the UAE.
