The awareness exhibition organized by the Ministry of Interior in Doha, Qatar, was inaugurated by Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The event, which is part of the celebrations for the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, aims to promote drug prevention and awareness. Various government entities, such as the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the General Authority of Customs, and the Behavioral Healthcare Center, are participating in the exhibition to disseminate educational messages and distribute informational materials.

Director-General of Drug Enforcement at the Ministry of Interior, Col. Rashid Sareea Al Kaabi, highlighted the global issue of drug addiction and its severe impacts on health, mental well-being, social stability, and the economy. He emphasized Qatar’s leading role in combating drug abuse by implementing comprehensive strategies that include prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, as well as community awareness campaigns targeting various societal segments, especially the youth. Qatar actively contributes to global anti-drug policies, shares successful experiences, and enhances cooperation with international and regional organizations.

Colonel Al Kaabi stressed the importance of continuous improvement in training programs for national personnel involved in drug enforcement to handle various drug-related crimes effectively. He urged the community, especially the youth, to avoid suspicious places while traveling, refrain from carrying unknown individuals’ luggage without verification, and not bring psychoactive medication from abroad without an approved prescription. He emphasized the significance of community collaboration with authorities in the fight against drug abuse.

Director of International Affairs and Studies at the General Directorate of Drug Control, Lt. Col. Mohamed Abdullah Al Khater, stated that Qatar’s participation in the International Day against Drug Abuse demonstrates its commitment to addressing this critical issue and supporting ongoing efforts to combat it. The country adheres to international drug control agreements and actively participates in conferences and meetings on drug-related topics at the Gulf, Arab, regional, and international levels. Qatar’s comprehensive drug control strategy focuses on enforcement, prevention, and treatment to establish a drug-free society, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in addressing this issue.

The exhibition features educational messages, informational pamphlets, and brochures related to drug prevention and awareness, aiming to deepen public understanding of the issue and mitigate its impacts on individuals, families, and society. Qatar’s commitment to combating drug abuse is evident through its comprehensive strategies, community awareness campaigns, and participation in global anti-drug policies. The country continuously improves training programs for national personnel involved in drug enforcement and emphasizes the role of community collaboration in combating drug abuse.

Qatar actively engages in international cooperation to address drug-related challenges, supporting a balanced and integrated approach in line with international agreements on controlling dangerous drugs and psychotropic substances. The country’s efforts to combat drug abuse on a national and international level demonstrate its commitment to ensuring a secure and sustainable future for subsequent generations. By participating in events like the International Day Against Drug Abuse, Qatar reaffirms its dedication to addressing this critical issue and supporting global efforts to combat it effectively.
