In Muscat, a symposium was held to review the initiatives of national institutions in Oman to achieve zero carbon neutrality by 2050. The meeting was attended by 50 participants representing various national authorities interested in zero carbon neutrality. The goal of the symposium was to reduce carbon emissions and take advantage of the benefits gained from its application at the local level. It also aimed to highlight the projects and initiatives that authorities in Oman are working on to achieve this goal.

The symposium emphasized the importance of exchanging ideas and experiences between institutions to achieve Oman Vision 2040. One of the key priorities of this vision is the environment and natural resources, to achieve a balance between sustainable development goals and the sustainable use of natural resources and wealth in order to enhance the growth of the national economy. This event provided a platform for participants to discuss and collaborate on ways to achieve these objectives.

The programme of the symposium included two working sessions. The first session focused on introducing zero carbon neutrality and spreading awareness within the community. Topics discussed in this session included the role of the UNESCO-Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Conservation in supporting environmental issues, the role of the private sector in achieving zero carbon neutrality, the national strategy for zero carbon neutrality, and developing environmental awareness to achieve this goal. These discussions provided valuable insights and strategies for participants to consider in their own initiatives.

The second working session of the symposium focused on the specific projects and initiatives that authorities in Oman are working on to achieve zero carbon neutrality. This included efforts by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, and youth institutions. By highlighting these initiatives, participants were able to gain a better understanding of the overall progress being made in Oman towards achieving zero carbon neutrality.

The symposium was organized by the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science in collaboration with the Petroleum Development Oman Company. This collaborative effort demonstrates the commitment of both the public and private sectors in Oman towards achieving the goal of zero carbon neutrality by 2050. By working together and sharing knowledge and resources, the participants at the symposium are contributing to a more sustainable future for Oman and the region.

In conclusion, the symposium in Muscat served as a valuable platform for national institutions in Oman to come together and discuss ways to achieve zero carbon neutrality by 2050. The focus on exchanging ideas and experiences, as well as highlighting specific projects and initiatives, demonstrated a commitment towards achieving Oman Vision 2040. By prioritizing the environment and natural resources, Oman is taking steps towards a more sustainable future and balanced economic growth. The collaboration between public and private sectors showcased a collective effort towards a common goal of reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development in the Sultanate of Oman.
