Saher Adukia, a year 13 student at Gems Wellington International and future Carnegie Mellon University attendee, has set a high standard for Dubai students by using her athletic talents and leadership skills to bring about change in her community. Her dedication and perseverance have not only led to success on the sports field but have also played a vital role in promoting inclusivity in the world of sports. As a result of her efforts, she was recently accepted into several prestigious universities in the United States and the UK, marking a personal triumph for her.
During her time in year 12, Saher sought guidance from Hale Education Group to develop a strategy for showcasing her accomplishments in a compelling applicant profile. She emerged as one of the most dedicated students of the season, consistently meeting with the counseling team to ensure every aspect of her application was meticulously reviewed. This meticulous approach paid off, resulting in acceptance to top-tier institutions such as UC Berkeley, USC, Babson, Northeastern, and Carnegie Mellon. After careful consideration and expert advice, Saher decided to pursue a dual major in Computational Finance and Business Administration, along with a minor in Computer Science at CMU’s Tepper School of Business.
A standout feature of Saher’s background is her commitment to sports, where she excelled as a student-athlete and captained various teams in high school. However, she noticed a lack of opportunities for students with disabilities, prompting her to create Born to Sport and its corresponding Cup initiative. Through these endeavors, Saher aimed to foster diversity and inclusivity in competitive sports, attracting numerous participants and promoting the creation of similar programs across the UAE. Her leadership skills and passion for equity have left a lasting impact on the local sports community.
Recognizing the importance of academic achievements, Saher also focused on excelling in her studies and exploring her interest in the business field. In year 12, she participated in the Lumiere program, conducting research on the competitive advantages of choice architecture, which was well-received and published in the National Highschool Journal of Science. Additionally, she pursued internships to gain practical experience and enhance her theoretical knowledge, preparing herself for the challenges she will face in university and beyond.
Saher’s success highlights the transformative power of sports on various levels. Her counselors at Hale Education Group commend her for the positive impact she has had on the Dubai community and look forward to seeing her emerge as a future leader in the business sector. With her combination of athletic prowess, academic excellence, and dedication to inclusivity, Saher Adukia serves as an inspiring example for students looking to make a difference in their communities through education, sports, and leadership.
