QRCS distributes sacrificial meat rations to vulnerable people in 16 countries

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has successfully concluded its Adahi Project 2024, #UdhiyaIsBlessing, which took place in various countries including Pakistan. During Eid Al Adha, QRCS and its partner organisations slaughtered sacrificial sheep and cows donated by the people of Qatar and distributed the meat to thousands of beneficiaries in accordance with Sharia law. In Qatar, QRCS distributed the meat of 803 heads of sacrificial sheep to approximately 1,200 families, benefiting 5,800 individuals.

Moza Mohamed Al Kuwari, Acting Director of Volunteering and Local Development Division at QRCS, expressed gratitude to the generous donors who contributed to the project. The initiative aimed to provide sacrificial meat to vulnerable populations to bring happiness into their hearts and adhere to the organization’s motto of ‘Saving lives and Preserving Dignity’. The project was implemented in 15 countries across Asia and Africa in coordination with host national societies.

In Pakistan, QRCS partnered with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) to distribute sacrificial goats to 80 families in flood-affected provinces, benefitting 560 individuals. Additionally, QRCS distributed 40 cows to 1,200 families in four locations in Kabul, Afghanistan. In Jordan, QRCS worked with the Jordan National Red Crescent Society (JNRCS) to distribute sacrificial meat parcels to Syrian refugees and the local host community.

In Gaza, QRCS’s office in Jordan collaborated with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) to slaughter and can 4,400 sacrificial animals for distribution via humanitarian aid convoys. The canned meat, totaling 100 tons, will benefit over 26,400 individuals in Gaza. In Sudan, QRCS distributed the meat of 134 cows to displaced families in shelter centers in Red Sea and Kassala States. The distributions also covered disability care centers in Port Sudan.

QRCS distributed sacrificial sheep meat to 6,900 families in internally displaced people (IDP) camps in Mogadishu and Kismayo, benefiting a total of 32,760 individuals. The number of sacrificial animals increased to 468 cows, with 3,276 meat parcels distributed to various communities. In Bangladesh, QRCS worked with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) to distribute the meat of 60 cows to 4,400 displaced families in flood-affected provinces.

In Djibouti, QRCS collaborated with the Red Crescent Society to distribute sacrificial animal meat to families in multiple districts, benefiting a total of 9,528 individuals. Additionally, in northern Syria, QRCS distributed 223 heads of sheep, totaling 12,427 kg of meat, to displaced and local families. The Adahi Project concluded successfully, bringing joy and relief to thousands of beneficiaries across different regions.
