Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reported that during the Eid Al Adha break, from June 15 to 18, public transport means, taxis, and shared mobility vehicles transported 6.7 million passengers. This figure is higher than the approximately 6.4 million riders that used public transport during the same period last year. The number of metro passengers on the red and green lines reached 2.5 million, while tram passengers exceeded 101,000 and public bus passengers totalled 1.4 million. Marine transport also saw a significant number of passengers, with 280,000 recorded. Taxis played a major role in transporting 2 million riders, and shared transportation vehicles saw over 350,000 riders.

Last year, the number of riders who used public and shared transport means as well as taxis during the Eid Al Adha break had reached 6.396 million, reflecting a 14 percent increase from the number recorded during the same period in 2020, which was 5.615 million riders. The increase in the number of passengers utilizing public transport during this festive period shows the effectiveness and convenience of these modes of transportation in Dubai. The RTA’s efforts to provide efficient and reliable transport options have contributed to the growth in ridership and the overall satisfaction of passengers.

The RTA’s focus on improving public transport services and expanding its fleet has resulted in increased ridership during peak travel times like the Eid Al Adha break. The availability of various transport options, including the metro, trams, buses, and marine transport, ensures that passengers have a convenient and seamless travel experience during busy periods. Taxis and shared mobility vehicles also play a vital role in providing last-mile connectivity and enhancing the overall accessibility of the city’s transportation network.

The RTA’s commitment to providing safe and reliable transport services has been well received by residents and visitors in Dubai. The increase in passenger numbers during the Eid Al Adha break highlights the importance of having a robust public transport system that can cater to the needs of a growing population and increasing tourist arrivals. By investing in infrastructure and technology, the RTA continues to improve the efficiency and sustainability of its transport network, making it a preferred choice for commuters and travelers in the city.

The positive response to the RTA’s public transport services during the festive period underscores the importance of investing in sustainable transport solutions. As Dubai continues to grow and develop, the demand for efficient and reliable transportation options will only increase. By prioritizing the expansion and enhancement of its public transport network, the RTA is contributing to the overall sustainability and livability of the city, reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions while improving the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

In conclusion, the record number of passengers using public transport during the Eid Al Adha break is a testament to the RTA’s success in providing efficient and reliable transport services in Dubai. The continued efforts to improve and expand the city’s transport network will ensure that residents and visitors have access to convenient and sustainable travel options. By prioritizing public transport and shared mobility solutions, Dubai is setting a positive example for other cities looking to enhance their transportation systems and reduce their environmental impact.
