Dubai-based golfer Tommy Fleetwood has qualified to represent Great Britain in the Men’s Golf Competition at the 2024 Olympics in France. Fleetwood, along with five other Dubai-based players, will be among a field of 60 golfers from 32 countries competing in the 72-hole individual strokeplay event at Le Golf National’s Albatros course from August 1-14, 2024. The prestigious course hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup and the DP World Tour’s Open de France 28 times.

The other Dubai-based players participating in the Olympics include Thorbjorn Oleson (Den), Gagunjeet Bhullar (India), Guido Migliozzi (Italy), and Adrian Meronk (Poland). The men’s Olympic rankings are currently led by Scottie Scheffler, who won the 2022 Masters and the 2023 PLAYERS Championship and will be competing in his first Olympic Games.

The US Open was the final qualifier for Olympic Golf Ranking (OGR) points, with the lowest ranked player in the field being Fabrizio Zanotti representing Paraguay at 343 of the OGR. Golf returned to the Olympic program in 2016 after a 112-year absence, with the upcoming Olympics in France marking the fifth set of medals awarded for the men’s competition and the fourth set for the women’s competition.

A diverse field of players from various countries will be competing in the Men’s Golf Competition at the 2024 Olympics in France. The full field includes players from the USA, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Japan, Great Britain, France, Austria, Australia, South Korea, Canada, South Africa, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Argentina, New Zealand, Poland, Chile, Finland, Chinese Taipei, Netherlands, China, Colombia, Italy, India, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, and Paraguay.

The presence of Dubai-based players along with other international golfers in the Olympics showcases the global nature of the sport and the diversity of talent within the golfing community. The competition at the Olympics will be fierce, with players vying for the coveted gold, silver, and bronze medals that will be awarded at the Men’s Golf Competition in France. The event promises to be an exciting display of skill and sportsmanship on an international stage.
