The team, coached by Khaled Hassan, is aiming for the elusive global title after finishing as bronze medallists in 2014 and 2016. Qatar is placed in a tough Group D, alongside Germany, Uruguay, and the United States. The team’s first match will be against the United States today at 11:40 am Doha time.

This tournament marks Qatar’s seventh consecutive appearance in the World Championship, with notable finishes in previous editions. After the preliminary round, the top three teams from each group will advance to the main round, leading to the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final on June 23.
